Key West waters are home to the only living barrier reef in the continental United States. Key West is one of the most popular snorkeling destinations. The water temperatures average 79°F and can get as high as 85°F!
There are a variety of snorkeling tours, from morning and afternoon trips to all day excursions. You can book both a group adventure or a private boat, but either way, you can see a variety including nearly 500 species of fish, 55 varieties of colorful coral, turtles, or even dolphins! During optimal weather and water conditions, the snorkeling and diving visibility can be as much as 80 feet. There are a couple of shore snorkeling spots in Key West that you can get to by swimming from the beach.
